How we ended up in tourism, how this whole thing started and how we rate our first year with One Prague Tour.

Our story & 2019 summary
THE START
Me and Jakub, we both jumped into tourism back in 2015. Around same time, we took a segway tour guide job an a side (along with our studies). Over the years, segways became a highly popular activity in Prague and the concept was not just to learn about the city, but also to have fun and enjoy the ride. We were happy to work with travellers, meet folks from all around the world, provide them with good time and try to make their visit even better. Later we both spent time working here front office as well, so this was the beginning.
After these few years we felt like we finally found our field and brainstormed how to take things further, how to start our own business. Instead of waiting for the one super original idea (which might take forever), we finally realized that we can combine what we learned so far and create the "ultimate 3 hour experience" in our favorite part of historical Prague - Lesser Town (Mala Strana) district and the area surrounding the Castle. This western side of river was pretty much neglected by most tour companies, but as many locals would agree, it is even better and more magical than the tight and super crowded Old Town district.
Once we had a perfect route in mind, we also decided to add food and beer tasting breaks along the path, to provide clients with a more diverse and complex experience. This way, we managed to combine history and sightseeing with a sample of local culture.
YEAR #1
We chose a fresh and fast growing AirBNB Experience platform, uploaded our concept and waited one week for approval. Of course, among so many different tours on there we had no idea how this would go and if we even get any customers. But to our surprise, we got first Easter time bookings, few positive reviews and suddenly, we were much more busy than we expected. The groups started to grow and we slowly pimped this tour to perfection.
September/ October brought even more passengers than summer months and Christmas markets/ New Years time made December the best month of the year.
Over 2019 (since mid April), we guided more than 1250px, walked this tour more than 270 times, scored 491 reviews with a superb 4.97 average rating on AirBNB and 25 more (5.00) on TripAdvisor. Our goal now was to expand to more re-seller platforms and use our own channels as well, plus start a second tour option over Easter 2020 time.
Who knew the Covid crap would happen... :)
